Welcome to my ecommerce guide! My name is Jon Sycamore. I've developed this site as a resource to point you in the right direction to building and maintaining your online business. Whether you've been at it or are just thinking about starting an ecommerce site, you will find the best quality resources, both free and paid for that are available to help you with all the aspects of running an online business. There's a lot of information out there, some good and some not so good. Unfortunately, more often than not, it's the latter of the two. The internet is relatively new and we're still in the wild wild west of the digital age. There are plenty of people willing to do whatever it takes to get your money. Online scams are everywhere, if this weren't true then I should have claimed my overseas lottery winnings that I didn't even enter into, what luck! Or maybe I should have deposited that check that was mistakenly made out for two thousand dollars more than I ask for to buy my craigslist item and wired the difference back. Right? Okay these examples are a bit extreme, but the point is that it's hard to find reliable resources online. This is where I come in, I've combed the web for great ecommerce instruction and products. In doing so, I've found a lot of great resources to help people to get their online business running properly and without having to spend thousands of dollars or countless hours sifting through search results in the process.

The key to selling products online is doing your due diligence towards market research. Not only do you need to know what's in demand, but also what the competition is. You don't want to be so broad where you go head to head with big companies like Walmart or Sears, but you also don't want to be too specific where there's not enough demand. Finding a niche market is key to your success in online business.

Unless you know HTML or another programmer language, which there are many of, you either have to pay someone who does to build your site or you can use a web building program. To save you money, lets stick with the web building programs, I'll show you which ones work the best. Then once you've established yourself online and are making money, I'll recommend some programmers to build you a custom site.

Once you've done your market research, how will you find suppliers for the products you want to sell? Be careful not to get scammed by middlemen in wholesalers disguise. It's important to look in the right places to find reputable suppliers who can get you the products you need at a price that you can actually make a real profit.

The above mentioned SEO topic shouldn't be your only source of traffic to your site. Marketing is an important part of doing business. The beauty of online marketing is that you can focus your energy directly on your target audience who is already looking for what you offer. It's just a matter of putting your site in their path.
